The Department of Science and Technology Ilocos Region (DOST Ilocos Region) formalized its partnership with the Philippine Information Agency Ilocos Region (PIA Ilocos Region) through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will bring science, technology, and innovation closer to the public in time for the 2025 National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (NSTW)
The MOU signing was held on October 10, 2025, at the DOST Ilocos Region Multipurpose Hall in San Fernando City, La Union.
With its wide network and stakeholders from the academe, government, and private sectors, the Information Agency is tapped to ensure broader public participation in the NSTW celebration.
The agency will also mobilize its officials and staff to support major NSTW activities, including the opening and closing ceremonies, cultural events, and forums and exhibits.
In addition, PIA will also invite local media partners to provide media coverage of the events. It is also tapped to manage and moderate the media conferences and seminars. Likewise, it committed to promote and participate in the technology exhibits that will be showcased during the celebration.
DOST Ilocos Region Director Dr. Teresita A. Tabaog emphasized that the partnership is a timely opportunity to showcase the strength of science, technology, and innovation, especially as Ilocos Norte hosts this year’s national celebration. She encouraged everyone to take part and experience how these fields continue to shape communities and create meaningful change.
Meanwhile, PIA Ilocos Region Director Jennilyne C. Role reaffirmed the agency’s full support for the event, sharing that PIA will work closely with DOST Ilocos Region in promoting and covering NSTW activities.
Beyond the NSTW celebration, both agencies share a vision of building a well-informed and empowered Filipino—one who recognizes the role of science, technology, and innovation in providing sustainable solutions and creating opportunities for all.
The 2025 NSTW is one of the many initiatives of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) aimed at providing science-based, innovative, and inclusive solutions across four strategic pillars: human well-being, wealth creation, wealth protection, and sustainability. These pillars embody the mantra OneDOST4U: Solutions and Opportunities for All. For more information, visit www.dost.gov.ph. (By: Aryan Joy M. Soliman , DOST Regional Office No. 1)
